Soundscape of the Invisible in Plain Sight

The installation comprises a soundscape personally recorded in a limestone mine, played within a conch-shaped sculpture. Given that lime is a primary material in these three-dimensional works, extensive exploration into its chemical properties, contemporary extraction techniques, and applications was undertaken. Lime, constituting the essence of bones, seashells, and sea fossils, is primarily composed of calcium. As viewers engage with the sculpture, they perceive the resounding echoes of the mountain's explosion and the subsequent fragmentation of rocks, conveyed through bone conduction headphones hidden inside, which vibrate against the skull. This auditory experience serves as a stark contrast to the anticipated sounds emitted from seashells. The project seeks to scrutinize and comprehend humanity's approach to resources by immersing audiences in the cacophony of massive production processes.
